Vidamed

In the early 90’s Vidamed developed a non-surgical therapy designed to deliver low-level, precisely controlled radiofrequency energy directly to the prostrate to diminish obstructing tissue associate with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
The process, formally know as Tran-Urethral Needle Ablation (TUNA), became established as a standard of care in the treatment of enlarged prostrates. In 1996 Medtronic acquired Vidamed for $326million. Early investors realize a 12 times return on their capital invested.
